These Brant girls, these girls what can I say, we have went through many struggles together, we have laughed and cried together, we have sang together and danced together, we may not be blood related but we are very much family ~ They inspire me to keep walking on even when it is tough going, to stand my ground with my head up no matter what storm approaches, to laugh at myself....

My Great Auntie, without whom I would have not learned to laugh at life and life's struggles, to be who I am even if it doesn't fit into the "normal" box, to learn about plants, Anishinabemowin and bring back our traditions to our family that had been lost. I will forever miss you Auntie.. you helped me become the woman I am, and I am grateful.

My ninabem (husband) Ben, who pushed me to start this website and art business in the first place. Who teaches me lots about world history, computery things, and pushes me outside of my comfort zone, who is my proofreader / critic, cheerleader, and best friend.

Daisy who is my deweigan sistah, medicine woman, fluent cree speaker and knowledgeable elder who always stands strong like a big oak tree in the wind, she is amazing and makes me want to be strong like her, to make good strong roots in life so I can stand as strong when I am her age.

Mae Pego our Wabanaisee Ogiimakwe, our kinoamagekwe, our survivor warrior! If I try to sum it up to a couple of things that Mae inspires me with it is patience and faith. Patience with people and with life struggles, she has had many and still keeps faith and walks along keeping faith that those others will walk along too and find their way.

Mary Lynn inspires me to be a better cook, to be strong, to know that I have mothered many even if I can never have a child, to know that you are still a strong woman who does not lose your femininity even if you are hit with infertility. She has helped me immensely while I have worked through my journey through cancer and endometriosis and fertility loss. I cannot even explain what she means to me. She is always there for everyone, she is a listening ear - a rock in the storm and has a heart so big she just loves the world. She is always there for a hug and a cup of coffee and laughter too...  I just love Mary to pieces.

Anita inspires me to be a better Aunty, amazes me with her energy and all that she does for her kids and grandkids and community, and still has time to bake things and go to protests and sing with the Wabanaisee singers... I do not know how she does it all!  She has a big heart and her family is her heart always, she has had more loss than any mother should ever have, but she has so much strength inside her to keep walking on to live and to care for her grandbabies she amazes me. I cannot really describe all the ways she inspires me to be a better person... she just does by being who she is, being strong and still laughing at life.

Ray John Sr. Bear Clan Chief Oneida Nation of the Thames, Friend, Kinoamageinini, singer. Ray was the inspiration and elder who gave me my first deweigan, and told me it was ok for me as a woman to sing with a hand drum when all the other men around me had said that we could not sing. He gave me the courage to sing, and later on in my journey I was led to a women's talking circle in mt. pleasant, and met Mae and the rest is history.... He taught me many things about the world, about language learning and teaching both his language and mine, about traditional stories and history of his people and mine, about plants and medicines, and songs... so many things.
